EUR/USD Forecast Today: The Euro Is Coiling Right on Its 2026 Low
This is the desk read on EUR/USD for Tuesday 23 June 2026, cross-referenced against multiple live sources and stripped of the noise. General market education only, not financial advice.
What is driving the euro today
EUR/USD is the mirror of the dollar and it is coiling right on its 2026 low. The pair is parked around 1.1440 in a tight 1.1423 to 1.1442 range, sitting on top of the 1.1416 six-month low. Be precise about what this is: it is a dollar move, not a euro move. The single currency is being dragged lower by a dollar that just tagged a fresh six-month high on a hike-bias dot plot, while the ECB is on hold with little fuel of its own, so the Fed-minus-ECB path gap is widening against the euro.
The live catalyst today is the flash PMI run. French services came in at 47.4, French manufacturing at 50.7 back in expansion and the French composite at 47.6, all better than feared but still soft, with German and euro-area prints across the morning. Better than feared is not the same as strong, and it was not enough to pull the pair off the floor.

How the desk reads it
Structure is in lower-low motion and the 1.1500 broken floor is now the pivot resistance. While the pair trades below 1.1500 the path of least resistance points at the 1.1416 year low and the 1.1400 round below it. A clean daily reclaim back above 1.1500 would neutralise the immediate bearish read.
Room for the other side
Here is the balance, and it matters. The pair is parked right on its year low with momentum stretched and a touch of PMI relief in the tape, which is exactly the setup that coils and then snaps a sharp relief bounce, so do not chase the last tick. A hawkish ECB shift or a softer US headline could spark that bounce at any time.

EUR/USD FAQ
How low can the euro go?
The clear line in the sand is the 1.1416 year low. A daily close below it opens the 1.1400 round and the 1.1407 pivot cluster, then 1.1368. Until 1.1500 is reclaimed, the bias stays lower.
Why is EUR/USD so weak right now?
It is mostly a dollar move, not euro weakness. A hike-bias Fed versus an on-hold ECB is widening the rate-path gap against the euro, and today’s better-than-feared flash PMIs were not strong enough to lift the pair off its low.
What would turn EUR/USD bullish?
A clean daily reclaim of 1.1500 would neutralise the immediate bearish read. It would likely need a hawkish ECB shift or softer US data to fuel it.
