DXY Forecast Today: The Dollar Hits a Fresh Six-Month High, Its Strongest Since May 2025
This is the desk read on the US Dollar Index for Monday 22 June 2026, cross-referenced against multiple live sources and stripped of the noise. General market education only, not financial advice.
What is driving the dollar today
The dollar is the strongest it has been since May 2025, and this is a regime, not a spike. The story that still matters is Kevin Warsh’s hawkish hold at last week’s FOMC: rates held at 3.50% to 3.75%, a cut taken off the table, upside inflation risk flagged, and the median 2026 dot lifted to about 3.8% with nine officials now pencilling at least one hike this year. Higher expected US rates plus firm real yields widen the dollar’s carry advantage, and the Dixie has pushed to a fresh six-month high, trading around 100.96 with today tagging 101.02.
There is a second leg under today’s bid. The opening round of US-Iran talks in Switzerland has concluded and extended April’s ceasefire, which is risk-on at the margin and keeps safe-haven flows rotating through the dollar rather than gold. Watch the Fed’s Waller on the wires later today for any added colour on the rate path.

How the desk reads it
On structure the break and hold above the 100.00 handle and the 100.85 prior-day close confirm the continuation leg off the 99.40 to 99.50 higher low. The read stays constructive while 99.40 to 99.50 holds on a daily close, and only a daily close back below that higher low would invalidate the bull leg.
Room for the other side
Be balanced about it. The dollar is extended after a hard run, and the Iran de-escalation feeds risk-on flows that can trim the safe-haven bid, so a profit-taking dip toward 100.45 to 100.50 or the 100.00 handle would be normal inside an uptrend, not a reversal. Trade the level, not the narrative.

DXY FAQ
Why is the dollar index so strong right now?
Because the Fed’s hawkish hold lifted the expected US rate path (a 2026 median dot near 3.8% with nine officials seeing a hike) and kept real yields firm, which widens the dollar’s carry advantage. The US-Iran de-escalation adds a risk-on tailwind that keeps flows in the dollar.
What is the key support level on DXY?
The line that defines the trend is the 99.40 to 99.50 higher low. Above it the uptrend is intact; a daily close below it would be the first real warning.
Could the dollar pull back from here?
Yes. It is extended after a strong run, so a profit-taking dip toward 100.45 to 100.50 or 100.00 is a normal pause inside the uptrend rather than a reversal.
