Broker Reviews, the desk’s verdict
By Ken Chigbo, founder and macro trader, KenMacro. Updated 2026-06-04.
The short answer
Star Trader is the go-to for true 1:1000 leverage: offshore, around a $50 minimum, MT4 and MT5, Islamic accounts. Blueberry Markets is the regulated alternative for traders uneasy about 1000:1.
Not a faceless list
This is not a comparison site that has never placed a trade. The desk trades these brokers live and posts the wins and the losses in the open, so you can see exactly what we are recommending and why. Judge it on the trades, not on our word.
The desk’s picks
| Broker | Best for | |
|---|---|---|
| Star Trader | Best for 1:1000 leverage | Open |
| Blueberry Markets | Best regulated alternative | Open |
If true 1:1000 is what you came for, Star Trader is the go-to. It is offshore, offers leverage up to 1:1000, takes a minimum deposit of around $50, and runs on both MT4 and MT5 with Islamic accounts available. The low entry point and the platform choice make it the most accessible genuine 1000:1 option I have used. Just respect what the leverage figure means: offshore licensing and extreme leverage both put more of the risk on you, so size tiny and use a hard stop.
If 1000:1 makes you uneasy, and it should give you pause, this is my editor’s choice. Blueberry Markets is regulated by ASIC under AFSL 535887, offers raw spreads, and caps leverage at up to 1:500. You give up the headline 1000:1 number and get a regulated home with a saner ceiling in return. For most retail traders that is the better deal, because the extra 500 points of leverage you lose are 500 points of rope you will not hang the account with.
What 1:1000 leverage actually means
At 1:1000 leverage every $1,000 of your own money lets you control a $1,000,000 position. That is the whole appeal and the whole danger in one number. Put up $1,000 of margin and you are sitting on a million dollars of market exposure. Nothing about the market changes; only your sensitivity to it does. A move that would barely register on a small unleveraged position can wipe your account at this size. I want to be plain about that before we talk brokers, because the number sounds like opportunity and behaves like a loaded tool.
The brutal math you have to accept
Here is the maths in full. At 1:1000, a 0.1 percent adverse move against a fully sized position is a 100 percent loss of the margin behind it. Currencies move 0.1 percent in seconds during normal trading. So if you take that million-dollar position on $1,000 of margin, the market only has to tick a tenth of a percent the wrong way to take everything. That is not a worst case; that is an ordinary Tuesday. Drop the leverage to 1:100 and the same wipeout needs a 1 percent move. Drop to 1:10 and it needs 10 percent. The leverage figure is, in practice, the inverse of how much room you have to be wrong. Most retail accounts lose money, and oversizing at extreme leverage is one of the fastest ways to join them.
How we get paid (straight up)
Yes, the desk earns a commission if you fund through the broker links on this page, at no extra cost to you. The difference between this and most best broker lists is simple: a real macro desk stands behind it, trades these brokers with real money, and shows you the results. The incentive is visible because the trades are public. We do not ask you to trust us blindly, we show you the trades.
Why 1:1000 brokers are almost always offshore
You will not find 1:1000 from an FCA, ASIC or ESMA-regulated broker, and that is not an accident. Those regulators cap retail leverage (often around 1:30 on major pairs) precisely because the numbers above are so unforgiving. Brokers that advertise 1:1000 are typically licensed offshore, where those caps do not apply. That is a real trade-off, not a free lunch: looser leverage limits usually come with lighter regulatory protection, so the broker’s own conduct matters far more. It means you carry more of the risk yourself, both market risk and counterparty risk. Go in with eyes open or do not go in.
The desk’s honest take on how to use it
I do not treat 1:1000 as a way to oversize. On the desk I treat extreme leverage as headroom for tiny, precise positions, never as licence to put a million dollars on the line because the margin requirement lets me. The right use is a small, defined-risk position where the high leverage simply means you do not have to tie up much cash, with a stop that caps the loss at a fixed percentage of the account. The wrong use, the one that empties accounts, is sizing up to the margin the broker allows. If 1:1000 makes you want to trade bigger, that is exactly the signal to trade smaller. We show our wins and our losses here for a reason: the losses almost always trace back to size, not direction.
How I picked these brokers
I ranked on three things: whether the leverage on offer is real and accessible at a low deposit, the platform and account quality (MT4, MT5, spreads, Islamic options), and how much regulatory backing sits behind it. Star Trader wins on raw access to 1:1000. Blueberry Markets is the one I point people to when 1000:1 frankly scares them and they would rather have ASIC regulation and a sane leverage ceiling.

Frequently asked
What does 1000:1 leverage mean?
It means every $1 of your own money lets you control $1,000 of market exposure. Put up $1,000 of margin and you control a $1,000,000 position. The market does not change; only your sensitivity to it does. At that size a tiny move produces an outsized profit or loss.
How risky is 1:1000 leverage really?
Extremely risky if you size to it. At 1:1000 a 0.1 percent adverse move against a fully sized position is a 100 percent loss of the margin behind it, and currencies move 0.1 percent in seconds. The leverage figure is effectively the inverse of how much room you have to be wrong.
Which broker offers genuine 1:1000 leverage?
Star Trader is my pick for real 1:1000. It is offshore, with leverage up to 1:1000, a minimum deposit of around $50, MT4 and MT5, and Islamic accounts. It is the most accessible genuine 1000:1 option I have traded.
Why do regulated brokers not offer 1:1000?
Regulators like the FCA, ASIC and ESMA cap retail leverage (often around 1:30 on majors) because the risk maths at extreme leverage is so unforgiving. Brokers advertising 1:1000 are typically licensed offshore, where those caps do not apply, which also means lighter regulatory protection.
Can UK traders open a 1:1000 account?
UK-regulated brokers will not offer it because of FCA caps. Some offshore brokers accept UK residents, but you trade without FCA protection.
Should I use 1:1000 leverage to trade bigger?
No. On the desk I use high leverage as headroom for tiny, precise positions, never as a reason to oversize. Sizing up to the margin the broker allows is what empties accounts. If 1:1000 makes you want to trade bigger, that is the signal to trade smaller.
What is a safer high-leverage alternative to 1000:1?
Blueberry Markets, ASIC AFSL 535887, also caps at up to 1:500. Both give you serious leverage with stronger oversight and a saner ceiling than offshore 1000:1.
Do most people make money trading at high leverage?
No. Most retail trading accounts lose money, and high leverage tends to speed that up because it tempts traders to oversize. The losses I see almost always trace back to position size, not getting the direction wrong. Treat the leverage number as risk, not opportunity.
