Vantage vs Blueberry vs Star Trader 2026 KenMacro three-way broker comparison verdict

Three brokers, three trader archetypes, one clean answer for each. The desk gets asked the Vantage vs Blueberry vs Star Trader question almost weekly, and the honest answer is that the "best broker" depends entirely on what you trade, where you live, and whether you need a research stack on top of execution. The institutional comparison below routes by archetype, with all numbers cross-referenced against ASIC, FCA, and FXEmpire as of 5 May 2026.

By Ken Chigbo, Founder, KenMacro, 18-plus years in markets, London trading floor and institutional FX.

KenMacro overall score 88/100 82/100 76/100

The 88-vs-82-vs-76 ranking is on the desk's overall scoring framework, which weights regulation 30 per cent, execution quality 25 per cent, platform breadth 15 per cent, cost 15 per cent, customer support 10 per cent, and bundled-research 5 per cent. The macro-trader-specific weighting is different and explored in the dedicated archetype section below.

Regulation, the structural safety floor

Regulation is the first filter before any spread or platform consideration. A broker that fails the regulator test should not get past line one of the comparison, regardless of how aggressive the spreads look on the homepage.

Vantage Markets, the dual-Tier-1 winner

Vantage holds simultaneous active licences at ASIC (AFSL 428901, the Vantage Global Prime entity) and the FCA (firm reference 590299, the Vantage Global Prime LLP UK entity). Simultaneous Tier-1 in two of the world's most demanding regulators is structurally rare among retail brokers, and the Lloyd's of London supplementary insurance up to $1m per claimant is the belt-and-braces overlay that no other broker on this list carries.

The CIMA Cayman, VFSC Vanuatu, and FSCA South Africa entities sit underneath the Tier-1 stack to serve clients outside the ASIC and FCA jurisdictions. The retail trader in the UK, Australia, or the EU should be onboarded against the FCA or ASIC entity by default, not the offshore.

Blueberry Markets, single-Tier-1 plus offshore

Blueberry runs ASIC AFSL 658034 as the primary Tier-1 entity (the Eightcap Pty Ltd holding, with the Money Market services registration 535887 and STP licence 364411), plus a VFSC Vanuatu entity for international clients outside the ASIC perimeter. The single-Tier-1 stack is one rung below Vantage's dual-Tier-1, but ASIC alone is a credible safety floor and Blueberry has a clean enforcement record across its 10-year operating history.

Star Trader, multi-jurisdiction breadth

Star Trader holds the broadest licence count of the three, with ASIC AFSL 421210, FSC Mauritius (GB24203371), FSA Seychelles (SD049), FSCA SA (52464), and SCA UAE (20200000241) as the five active entities. The breadth is the structural feature, with regional coverage spanning Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East.

The trade-off is that only ASIC sits in the Tier-1 bracket, the other four are mid-tier or jurisdictional regulators. Australian retail clients onboarded against the ASIC entity get the same Tier-1 protection as Vantage and Blueberry. International clients onboarded against the offshore entities get less robust regulator protection in exchange for higher leverage allowances.

Spreads and execution costs, where the friction lives

Spreads matter, but only in the right account-type comparison. The standard-account quotes on the homepage are not the same product as the raw or ECN quotes the active trader actually pays. The desk's normalisation below compares like for like.

Cost component Vantage RAW ECN Blueberry Raw Star Trader Prime ECN
Min deposit for tier $50 $100 $10,000
EUR/USD typical raw ~0.0 pip 0.1 pip ~0.0 pip
Round-turn commission $6 per lot $7 per lot $4 per lot
All-in EUR/USD cost ~$6 per RT lot ~$8 per RT lot ~$4 per RT lot
Standard tier (no commission) ~1.0 pip avg ~1.2 pip avg ~0.8 to 1.2 pip avg
News widening behaviour Tight in normal hours, widens to 1.5 pip during NFP Tight, widens to 2.0 pip during NFP Tier-dependent, Prime ECN holds <1.5 pip during NFP

Star Trader Prime ECN is the cheapest tier on paper, but the $10,000 minimum gates the access to size traders. Vantage RAW ECN at $50 minimum is the practical winner for the typical retail account, with Blueberry's $100 entry one tier behind on cost but bundled with the desk-research overlay that materially shifts the value calculation for macro traders.

Platforms, where execution actually happens

The platform stack is the single most under-weighted variable in retail broker comparisons. The trader spends every executed trade interacting with the platform, and platform quality compounds across thousands of clicks across an account's lifetime.

Vantage, the TradingView native

Vantage is the only broker among the three with native TradingView execution, integrated directly with order routing rather than via a third-party bridge. For traders who already analyse on TradingView (and almost every retail trader under 40 does), this collapses the analyse-execute loop into a single platform. The MT4, MT5, and ProTrader options sit alongside as legacy fallbacks.

Blueberry, MT5-first plus DupliTrade

Blueberry pushes MT5 as the primary platform with MT4 available only on a 30-day trial. The DupliTrade copy-trading layer is the differentiator, with the WebTrader browser path serving traders who want a no-install option. The platform stack is solid but conventional, no native TradingView, no proprietary innovation beyond DupliTrade.

Star Trader, MT4/MT5 plus proprietary mobile

Star Trader runs MT4, MT5, and the in-house STARTRADER mobile app, which is the cleanest mobile-first execution stack of the three. For traders who execute primarily on phone (which is more of the retail base than the industry admits), Star Trader's proprietary app is the differentiator. The desktop side is conventional MT4/MT5.

The trader-archetype routing logic

The clean answer to "which one" depends on which trader you are. The desk's segmentation below cuts through the spreadsheet comparison.

The macro trader running directional positions on FOMC, NFP, CPI

Verdict, Blueberry Markets. The bundled MACRO MASTERY desk-access included free for life through the KenMacro partnership is the structural feature. Macro traders hold positions through FOMC, NFP, and CPI prints, and the broker's spread quality matters less than the research-stack quality. The desk-bundle is structurally rare in retail brokerage.

The institutional / professional / dual-regulated trader

Verdict, Vantage Markets. The simultaneous ASIC plus FCA Tier-1 stack, the Lloyd's of London supplementary insurance, and the native TradingView execution combine into the strongest institutional-grade retail stack of the three. The 5-million-trader scale is a credibility signal in itself.

The active scalper running tight raw spreads at size

Verdict, Star Trader Prime ECN if you can clear the $10,000 minimum, otherwise Vantage RAW ECN. Star Trader Prime ECN at $4 round-turn is the cheapest tier on the comparison, but the size gate is real. Below the $10,000 line, Vantage RAW ECN at $6 round-turn with the dual-Tier-1 stack is the cleaner choice. Blueberry's scalping permission is excellent but the $7 RT cost is one tier higher than the alternatives.

The first-account trader in a non-G7 market

Verdict, Star Trader. The $50 minimum, the 9-language 24/7 customer service, and the regional regulator coverage (FSC Mauritius, FSA Seychelles, FSCA SA, SCA UAE) make Star Trader the structurally easier path for traders in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, or South-East Asia. Vantage and Blueberry are stronger for traders inside the ASIC or FCA jurisdictions.

The high-leverage offshore trader

Verdict, Star Trader at 1:1000 via FSC Mauritius or FSA Seychelles, then Vantage international at 1:500. High-leverage trading is structurally riskier and the desk does not endorse it for any but the smallest position-size accounts, but if the trader specifically needs the leverage allowance, Star Trader's offshore path is the highest available among the three.

The TradingView-native trader who lives in the chart

Verdict, Vantage Markets, no contest. Native TradingView execution is the only place where the three brokers separate cleanly, and Vantage is the only one with the integrated path.

The crypto-native trader funding via BTC, ETH, or USDT

Verdict, Star Trader, with Vantage as the crypto-funding alternative. Star Trader is the only broker on this list that supports BTC and ETH as base currencies on the trading account itself, which removes the conversion friction for crypto-native traders. Vantage supports USDT and BTC for funding only, with USD as the base. Blueberry does not support crypto base accounts.

The copy-trader following signals

Verdict, Blueberry Markets via DupliTrade or Star Trader via the STARTRADER copy-trade layer. Both have credible copy-trading infrastructure. Blueberry's DupliTrade has the longer track record. Star Trader's social-copy stack has higher engagement among the multi-jurisdiction retail base. Vantage does not currently have a meaningful copy-trade layer.

The MACRO MASTERY angle

The single biggest separator between Blueberry and the other two on this list is the bundled MACRO MASTERY desk-access. Through the KenMacro partnership, every Blueberry account opened via the KenMacro link gets free-for-life access to the desk that hedge-fund analysts run their morning prep against, daily 07:00 London pulse, FOMC and NFP and CPI live coverage, BTC whale-flow signals, weekly performance scorecard, and the live MT5 signal bridge.

The desk would otherwise cost a Bloomberg-tier subscription. For macro traders, the structural value of the desk-bundle dominates a $1-per-lot spread difference between brokers many times over. This is the reason Blueberry ranks first on the macro-trader-specific weighting despite ranking second on the overall-scoring framework.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best broker overall, Vantage, Blueberry, or Star Trader?

On the desk's overall scoring framework, Vantage Markets ranks first at 88/100 on the strength of simultaneous ASIC plus FCA Tier-1 regulation, native TradingView, and Lloyd's of London supplementary insurance up to $1m per claimant. Blueberry Markets ranks second at 82/100 with the bundled MACRO MASTERY desk and a single ASIC entity. Star Trader ranks at 76/100 with the broadest multi-jurisdictional licence stack and the lowest entry barrier at $50.

Which broker has the tightest spreads on EUR/USD?

Star Trader's Prime ECN posts the tightest raw spreads at roughly 0.0 pips plus $4 round-turn commission, but the $10,000 minimum gates the tier. Vantage Markets RAW ECN posts 0.0 pips plus $6 round-turn at a $50 minimum. Blueberry Markets Raw posts 0.1 pips plus $7 round-turn at a $100 minimum. Standard accounts at all three sit in the 0.8 to 1.2 pip range without commission.

Which broker is safest on regulation?

Vantage Markets is the safest on regulator stack, with simultaneous ASIC AFSL 428901 plus FCA reference 590299 active for retail clients in those jurisdictions, layered on top of supplementary Lloyd's of London insurance up to $1m per claimant. Blueberry Markets is single-Tier-1 with ASIC AFSL 658034 plus a VFSC offshore entity for international clients. Star Trader has the broadest licence count at five active entities including ASIC AFSL 421210, but only the ASIC entity sits in the Tier-1 bracket.

Which broker is best for macro traders?

Blueberry Markets is the desk's pick for macro traders specifically, on the strength of the bundled MACRO MASTERY desk available free for life through the KenMacro partnership. Macro traders need institutional-grade research more than they need spread tournaments, and the desk-bundle is structurally rare. Vantage is the strongest alternative for macro traders who specifically need FCA regulation or native TradingView execution.

Which broker is best for beginners?

Star Trader has the lowest barrier at $50 minimum deposit, 9-language 24/7 customer service, and a clean educational layer, which makes it the friendliest path for first-account traders in non-G7 markets. Vantage is the cleanest beginner choice in FCA-regulated jurisdictions. Blueberry's $100 minimum and dedicated account manager from the first dollar is the strongest hand-held onboarding of the three but the deposit barrier is double Star Trader's.

Which broker offers TradingView trading?

Only Vantage Markets offers native TradingView execution among the three, integrated directly with the broker's order routing rather than via a third-party bridge. Blueberry and Star Trader rely on MetaTrader 4 and 5 plus their own proprietary mobile platforms, with TradingView access only through chart-only mode rather than full execution.

Can I get the KENMACRO discount on these brokers?

Blueberry Markets carries the bundled MACRO MASTERY desk-access included free for life through the KenMacro partnership, which is the structural equivalent of a discount because the desk would otherwise cost a Bloomberg-tier subscription. Vantage Markets and Star Trader do not currently offer a price discount through KenMacro but the IB structure means the trader pays the same retail fees and KenMacro receives an introducing-broker commission. The discount-and-bundle path is dedicated to the prop firm partnership at E8 Markets, code KENMACRO.

Are these brokers safe to use?

All three are safe in the sense of holding active Tier-1 or multi-tier regulator licences with mandatory client-fund segregation at Tier-1 banks, negative balance protection on retail accounts, and clean enforcement records as of 2026-05-05. None has been flagged for client fund mismanagement, regulatory action of consequence, or platform failure in the cycle. Capital at risk applies to all CFD trading regardless of the broker chosen.
