Inside The Read

How your Inside The Read request is handled

Last updated 12 September 2026

This covers the companion desk notes on the Inside The Read series specifically. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

The short version. To send you a companion desk note we ask for your first name, your email and your WhatsApp number. We use them to deliver the desk note and to keep a record of your request. We only send you marketing emails if you tick the email box, and the team only messages you on WhatsApp if you tick the WhatsApp box. Both boxes start unticked. You can ask us to delete your details at any time.

Who is responsible

KenMacro, operated by Ken Chigbo, is the data controller for these requests. For anything on this page, contact kenchigbotrading@gmail.com.

What we collect, and why

What Why Required
Your first name So the delivery email is addressed to you Yes
Your email To send you the desk note and a link to download it again Yes
Your WhatsApp number It is a condition of receiving the desk note and it is stored with your request. The team only messages you on WhatsApp if you tick the WhatsApp box Yes
Which episodes you unlocked So we send the right desk note and can see which episodes are useful Recorded automatically
Where you came from Campaign tags in the link you followed, the page that sent you and the page you used, so we know which of our work reaches people Recorded automatically
Email updates Occasional market breakdowns and KenMacro updates, only if you tick the box No, optional and unticked by default
WhatsApp messages A message from the team about the desk notes and your trading, only if you tick the box No, optional and unticked by default

What we deliberately do not collect

  • Your home address, date of birth, or any identity document.
  • Any payment details. The desk notes are free and no card is taken.
  • Your IP address, in any form, on your request. To stop the form being flooded we hold a salted one way hash of it, which changes daily and cannot be turned back into an address, and that hash lives only in a counter that expires within an hour.

Our lawful basis

Purpose Basis
Sending you the desk note you asked for, and the email that carries its link Legitimate interests. You asked for it, and this is the reply to that request, not marketing
Keeping a record of your request and letting our team know it arrived Legitimate interests. So requests are not missed, so we can answer you, and so we know which episodes are useful
Occasional market breakdowns and KenMacro updates by email Consent. Only if you ticked the email box. Every email has an unsubscribe link
WhatsApp messages from the KenMacro team Consent. Only if you ticked the WhatsApp box. Tell the team to stop at any time and they will
Preventing the form being flooded or abused Legitimate interests. The hashed request data described above

Asking for a desk note is not subscribing. If you do not tick the email box, you receive the delivery email for each desk note you ask for and nothing else from this form. If you have unsubscribed from KenMacro emails in the past, asking for a desk note will not put you back on the list. You can still download it on the page.

Who else sees it

Who What they get Why
Ken, and the team he authorises to help with the desk Your name, email, WhatsApp number, the episodes you unlocked and the choices you made To answer you and, only if you agreed, to follow up
Our email provider Your name, email, WhatsApp number, the episodes you unlocked, where you came from and your choices To deliver your desk notes, and your updates if you consented
Our website host The request as it passes through the site It is where the site runs
Our internal alerting, a private staff channel A summary of your request, including whether you agreed to WhatsApp messages So a request is not missed and the team knows what you did and did not agree to
YouTube Only what your browser sends when an episode loads Before you press play only the preview image is loaded. The video itself loads from YouTube’s privacy enhanced player when you press play, and YouTube’s own terms then apply

We do not sell your information, we do not share it with brokers or advertisers, and we do not use it to target advertising.

How long we keep it

Record Kept for
Your request details While the series runs and we still need them for the purposes above, or until you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first
Email updates, if you consented Until you unsubscribe
WhatsApp consent, if you gave it Until you tell us to stop
Download links Two hours for the link on the page, 30 days for the link in your email. Please do not share them, they are personal to you
Anti-abuse hashes Under one hour, and never on your request

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. The fastest route is replying to your delivery email. Otherwise email kenchigbotrading@gmail.com with the name and email address you used.

We will respond within one month. There is no charge. If you are unhappy with how we handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

What is saved in your browser

After your first request your browser keeps a small signed note on your device: your first name, your email, your email updates choice and which episodes you have unlocked. It means you do not have to type your details again for the next episode. It stays on your device, and the “Use different details” link clears it. Your browser also keeps a note of the campaign tags you arrived with for the length of your visit, so a request can be credited to the link that brought you. Neither is used for advertising.

Changes

If this changes in a way that affects requests already made, we will tell the people affected rather than quietly updating the page.
